as someone who primarily works evenings/nights, i'm one of those people who wouldn't mind daylight savings time be permanent, rather than it being permanently non-daylight savings if a permanent end to the practice were to ever happen. my bedtime is often dictated by the sunrise. on a night like tonight (mid-november), i'd be going to be around 530a. i don't work that late (early?), my shifts usually end around 12a or 1a.
i try to live the life of someone who works the normal 9a-5p shift, but on the opposite side of the clock. normal people will have dinner during the early evening, say around 6p, while my dinner time is 2a, sometimes later. this leaves me with a few hours to chill out until bed, just like normal people. if you're wondering when i eat breakfast, that happens at 6pm.
anyways, i'm not just a fan of a sunrise that happens later in the morning, but also a sunset that happens at ~530p instead of ~430p. i don't have the sun in my eyes when commuting to work (it's especially dangerous when riding a motorcycle), and a later sunset doesn't feel as depressing.
i do have one daytime shift on saturdays, 9a-5p. optimally, after this shift, i typically stop by a nearby park/bluff. can't do that now, being that the park is technically closed at sundown.
lots of memories at this place. i don't just visit because it's nearby, but this has been a point of interest since i received my driver's license. during my senior year in high school, i remember stopping by for several days straight in mid-january, having a coffee after each mid-term exam. during my college years, i'd hang out with a group of friends by the water, chugging beers and smoking cigarettes. post college years, this bluff would be a checkpoint for almost every local motorcycle ride, either marking the beginning and/or end of a riding session.
